Fresh
Cut Gardenias
Gardenias are one of the most
fragrant wedding flowers available. If you follow care instructions
when handling, these flowers will look wonderful.
Things to watch. Gardenias will bruise and
brown within hours if not handled properly.
Gardenias are delivered in sets of
three with a supporting collar of four gardenia leaves and offers some
protection to these delicate blooms.
Wet your hands when working with
Gardenias.
Keep Gardenias wet while handling and spray bouquet liberally with
Crowning Glory and place a wet facial tissue sprayed with Crowning Glory
over Gardenias to protect flower.
After delivering bridal bouquets, I
always give instructions to protect bouquets from family or children
touching the Gardenias. Brides today take many of the wedding photos
before the ceremony and if these flowers are handled, they will bruise and
turn brown.
When stored at
32-36 F in high humidity and misted frequently, the gardenia can last up
to two weeks without water. But it opens immediately when placed in water,
and will last two to three days.
