Fresh
Cut Alstroemeria
Alstroemeria is one of my favorites.
With the variety of colors this flower works great in flower bouquets,
wedding bouquets, corsages and more.
Alstroemeria is sensitive to ethylene
gas. Damage from this gas will show in yellowing and transparent
leaves. Fluoride treatment in city water will also damage this
flowers. Cut flowers under water when processing, then place in
clean bucket of water with flower food.
Alstroemeria comes in apricot, yellow,
orange, salmon, pink, red, mauve, purple, lavender, cream, white and
bi-colors.
Some people may
be susceptible to allergic dermatitis caused by a chemical in
alstroemeria. I am one of those people and because this flower
causes my hands to break out and itch, I wear gloves. It is worth
the extra trouble.
